3D Horse Race Online Game

Company context: Virtual Sports mission is " To provide the most realistic online skill-based sports games to be found. Our games are based on complex statistical models that simulate the real world sporting industry. Participants compete in online communities where they put there ownership, management, and coaching skills up against other participants."
Project Context: Virtual sports already had a 2D game in place where a player could see the horses running just from one side, but they wanted to upgrade the game viewer to provide their subscribers with a High-end solution where not only you could have a more realistic aspect in the game, but also see the race from different angles and control the action by pausing, rewinding, etc, so the way to go was a 3D game.
Project Technical Details: The main challenge of the solution was to develop a very realistic look but keep in check performance considerations for the online environment. The 3D elements where modeled, textured and animated using 3D Studio Max. The programming was done using Java 3D.
