In order to maintain customer satisfaction above all else when delivering Beautiful Flowers by a team of Talented People, it was necessary to have a new Marketplace solution to attend their distributors.

Teravision Technologies worked hand to hand with their Digital Agency for the Application Development of their new marketplace as a fixed scope project

Challenges and Solution.

In the way of making a completely online flower catalog and E-Commerce solution, issues go beyond the basic functions of login, select flowers, choose quantities and check out selecting your shipment.

This project featured a challenging cart logic to check and guarantee inventory real-availability across customers:

An application had to connect to a 3rd party API that was mostly done but still required modifications to fit the business logic. The API was in place to manage the checkout process and shipment.
Content upload was done using Pentaho as mapper, the migration included the product description, several categories and images related to each of the posts in WordPress.
Cart Synchronization across devices including countdown logic validation to process the order. Products that were placed in the cart more than certain given time were reset (in quantity) to maintain inventory integrity.

Highlights of Application Development

The catalog worked with two-way filters where the users could select colors (several of them) and flowers. Color selection (additive) increased the set of flowers to display on the screen.

The catalog was completely manageable in the CMS, where the content was sorted as the business required. For instance, flower categories could be arranged differently depending on business interest and the flowers inside where purposely sorted by color intensity. This could be changed in the CMS to fit special featured seasons.

The checkout process was custom designed. Payments were managed outside of the app and the API response returned if the order was allowed or not. Shipment logic featured a countdown per day of available shippers. Some of them offered special velocity to the users.
