Building Scalability with Amazon Web Services

In recent years, the rapid advancement of technology has provided numerous alternatives for many companies when it comes to running and developing their businesses, and cloud computing is not an exception to the rule. With the increasing number of IT professionals needed to manage the complexity of data centers, maintaining productivity has become a challenge, which is why cloud computing is not just a trendy solution but also a new business model that is applicable to a wide variety of company scenarios.

Cloud Computing is the delivery of computing services over the Internet to offer faster innovation, flexible resources, and economies of scale. The services include servers, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics, and intelligence

Therefore, cloud computing is without any doubt a big shift from the traditional way businesses think about IT resources, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) has certainly been laying the foundations for what a cloud computing service should look like.

AWS is a cloud-based platform that offers flexible, reliable, scalable, easy-to-use, and cost-effective cloud computing solutions for businesses using inter-connected web services

Basically, AWS is an easy to use computing platform offered by Amazon that provides on-demand services and APIs to individuals, companies, and governments, on a metered pay-as-you-go model. It is trusted by many firms because of the features it provides; whether it’s for game development, data processing, warehousing, or any different type of software development, AWS helps companies with servers that depend on their own demand, therefore saving their time, money and effort.

Having said that, there are clear advantages when it comes to operating on the cloud. It offers flexibility, little to no maintenance, data recovery, easy access, and a higher level of security, but what makes AWS strongly reliable among different firms are the various features that they offer. Some of them are:

Mobile-Friendly Access: Tools such as Amazon Mobile Hub provide management, creation, testing, and maintenance of mobile apps through the cloud.

Serverless Cloud Functions: Amazon API and Amazon Gateway help users by running their code and scaling it. In other words, users are not tasked with taking care of the servers as the whole process is managed by AWS.

Databases: Thanks to Amazon RDS, different types of databases can coexist in the cloud, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, and Amazon Aurora, or Amazon DynamoDB for NoSQL.

Storage: There are different types of storage, both for files with regular or infrequent file access. Amazon S3 is the main service, although others such as Amazon Glacier or Amazon EBS complement the offer as well.

Security and Compliance: Amazon provides maximum security to the data that they provide. The security groups of AWS associate with EC2 instances: they provide security at the protocol and port access level while having security rules that filter traffic coming into and out of an EC2 instance.

AWS Marketplace: AWS Marketplace is an online store where customers can immediately search for suitable software or can buy it for their businesses. Basically, users can use Marketplace’s one-click deployment and launch the required software by paying only for what they will actually use.

It is also important to highlight that Amazon periodically updates the offer of services and tools available on their platform, therefore it is worth checking their entire list of features to be fully aware of their updates and how your business can benefit from them.

In conclusion, AWS definitely offers solid scalability and excellent performance can be achieved on it for many different types of needs companies have, not to mention nearly limitless security and considerable cost-savings. There is hardly anything that can not be done software-wise with AWS, which explains its nearly 32% market share. The truth is, being proficient in it definitely opens a whole new array of possibilities for professional growth since it allows professionals to build their software products with flexibility, scalability, and security like never before.
